Riverside Kitchen Design
We are excited to see the kitchen we designed and supplied featured in Stipperstones. This beautiful new home by VESP Architects sits on the banks of the River Exe in Devon. The house draws inspiration from the traditional Devon longhouse. Its long shape separates living spaces from bedrooms. The kitchen sits at the heart of the home and connects the family to the surrounding river and landscape.
Bright and Open Kitchen Design
The kitchen faces a full-length glazed wall. Sunlight fills the space throughout the day. Large sliding doors open directly onto a floating deck. This design allows the kitchen and dining areas to flow naturally into the outdoors. The homeowner enjoys easy access to the river views and surrounding nature.
Cabinetry and Worktops
We used the Zola Soft-Matte range in Indigo for the cabinets. The deep blue colour creates a calm, modern feel. It contrasts beautifully with the warm timber-lined ceilings and bamboo flooring. For the worktop, we chose a 20mm Dekton Kelya surface. It is strong, durable, and perfect for busy kitchens. The slim profile keeps the space looking clean and uncluttered.
Extra Storage and Practical Details
To make the kitchen more practical, we designed extra-deep base units along the sink run. These units provide extra storage and more worktop space. Small details like this help the kitchen work better for everyday life. They show how thoughtful design can make a real difference.
Open-Plan Living
The kitchen supports open-plan living. Family members can move easily between the kitchen, dining, and living areas. Whether cooking, dining, or relaxing, everyone can enjoy the light and the views. The space encourages social interaction while remaining organized and efficient.
Sustainable Design
Stipperstones takes a low-carbon approach. The house uses high levels of insulation, air source heat pumps, and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery. We selected materials and finishes that are durable and long-lasting. This ensures the kitchen remains functional and beautiful for years to come.
